As part of its long-term commitment to promoting educational empowerment and helping rural students unlock their potential, the TSMC Charity Foundation has organized projects such as the road to employment, dynamic technical and vocational training, and a job fair for senior high and vocational high school students to encourage students' adaptive growth and development of specialties. In 2024, the Foundation integrated regional empowerment resources to work with Taitung County Government and Kung Tung St. Joseph Technical Senior High School and launch the first parent-child vocational career exploration workshop for junior high school students, and a career exploration expo for junior high school students in the vocational track. These two action plans have benefited more than 1,500 students, parents and teachers in 22 junior high schools in Taitung County, giving them an insight into the technical and vocational education system and future career paths, as well as providing a proper perspective on various occupations.

Blueprint of Education Empowerment

Empowering Junior High School Students to Explore Future with Technical and Vocational Resources

To promote early exploration of interests and specialization among students, the Foundation provided Dynamic Technical and Vocational Training to help them acquire expertise. In 2023, the Foundation collaborated with IKEA to train 27 students from Kung Tung St. Joseph Technical Senior High School, enabling them to earn professional qualifications. To empower junior high schools, the Foundation selected St. Joseph Technical to serve as as a model school and host workshops for ninth-graders and their parents. Through career testing, trend talks, hands-on courses, and discussions, the Foundation encouraged parent-child interactions and assisted in planning for post-graduation options. This year, the Foundation expanded its program to National Caotun Commercial & Industrial Vocational Senior High School and collaborated with the Taitung County Government and four vocational high schools in Taitung County to organize an expo at St. Joseph Technical. The expo aims to provide junior high school students, parents, and teachers with a range of technical and vocational resources and activities to help students explore their interests and identify potential career paths, serving as a valuable reference for assessing future development.

Resources supporting parent-child career exploration activities can help junior high school students in Taitung County discover their unique personal traits, interests and advantages as early as possible, showing each of them the way forward.

The Foundation’s experience with job matching and sharing of industry trends not only influenced the parents' thoughts on pursuing higher education but made the kids proud of acquiring vocational skills. This is helpful in promoting adaptive career development.

Two Action Plans for Junior High School Students

The career test not only highlighted my strengths, but also, after discussing with my mom, I discovered that I have other hidden potentials as well.

Taking part in the workshop changed how I envision my daughter’s future. I wouldn’t want her to limit herself to painting and becoming a painter. I would encourage her to give product design, interior design and other diverse fields a try and create more possibilities.

Aiming to stimulate students' learning potential and promote adaptive talent development, the Foundation will continue its work of expanding and promoting regional vocational empowerment activities. In the third quarter of 2024, the Foundation plans to collaborate with Nantou County's National Caotun Commercial & Industrial Vocational Senior High School to organize workshops enabling local junior high school students to explore career opportunities and enrich their lives.
