TSMC is dedicated to fulfilling its vision for talent development by aligning with the TSMC Talent Development Model to support employees in enhancing their professional capabilities. In response to the growing demands of global expansion in recent years, TSMC launched the Intercultural Learning Program in 2024. This program centers on eight key themes: intercultural awareness, adaptability, inclusive leadership and unconscious bias, language, local laws, societal norms, workplace collaboration, and management. Through 88 in-person courses and online learning resources, the program provides a systematic approach to helping employees develop the mindset, knowledge, and skills needed to address intercultural challenges, improving communication and collaboration efficiency. As of July 2025, TSMC has delivered 432 sessions across its domestic and international sites, with a total of 10,741 course completions. The program achieved an impressive average satisfaction rating of 96 out of 100, laying a solid foundation for global talent development.

From Mindset to Skillset: Supporting Workplace Adaptation in a Globalized Context

TSMC continues to expand its global operations while fostering talent for the international stage. The Intercultural Learning Program is built upon the company's core values, drawing from operational insights gained from its subsidiaries in Japan, the United States, and Germany. Incorporating the expertise of external consultants, the program is designed around a learning framework structured on eight core themes, which methodically guide employees in developing intercultural competencies. The curriculum begins by helping employees establish intercultural awareness and strengthening their adaptability and inclusive leadership skills to improve the quality of interactions in global workplaces. This is followed by in-depth exploration of languages, local laws, societal norms, workplace collaboration, and management practices across different countries. To shorten the learning curve and accelerate the application of new skills, TSMC integrates common workplace scenarios such as meetings, task assignments, one-on-one coaching, and performance feedback into its teaching materials. This approach enables employees to simulate interactions with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds and gain hands-on experience as well as enhance work efficiency.

TSMC's Intercultural Learning Framework

Every culture is unique. Intercultural learning has helped me better understand the cultural characteristics of different countries, step outside habitual thought patterns, and practice how to change my perspectives. It has helped mutual understanding and reduced cultural friction.

To enhance employees' practical application of intercultural skills, TSMC continues to expand the resources available through the Intercultural Learning Program. A key initiative is the development of the Scenario-based Intercultural Group Coaching Workshop, which centers on real-world intercultural experiences. This workshop is designed to help employees deeply explore challenges in intercultural collaboration and management, and to develop concrete strategies for addressing these issues. The workshop is scheduled to launch as a pilot in Taiwan in the third quarter of 2025. In the future, international subsidiaries will have the flexibility to adapt the workshop content to local contexts, ensuring the curriculum meets real-world needs and further enhances TSMC's global competitiveness.
